New job and buying junk out of boredom

Well I've got some good news, guys.

For those of you that don't know already I got the job at JCpennies so that'll be starting here in a week or so. I'm really hoping both of my jobs will start soon because I am bone broke. Still haven't gotten word back from Rite aid about the drug test or when I'd be starting so hopefully that's around the corner as well.

I went to the mall with Katelynn yesterday and spent a bunch of money on stuff I probably didn't really need, like a new bra, an eyeshadow palette from Sephora and a ton of jewelry at Claires for their 10 for $10 sale. If I was smart about how I spent my money I would have bought some black slacks for work... nope!

Whatever, things like this really add a little extra joy to my day...

Onigiri earrings. I have a bunch of little sushi earrings with smileys on them like this and I look forward to wearing them to work. Sort of a blast from the past for me, but what the hell they were a dollar.

I've been off Prozac because I've been unable to get my prescription refilled without meeting with my doctor. I'm going to my appointment on Monday at 9:15. Prozac has really worked for me so it's irritating to not have it for the weekend because I will inevitably be feeling lethargic and headachey... like today I slept about 4 hours after I'd eaten breakfast, what a waste! Regardless of this I've been feeling pretty good the last couple days because of my recent success in getting the job so I'm just hoping to kick back this weekend and not worry about anything.

But yeah haven't been up to much aside from working on getting my job, playing a ton of guitar and hanging out at home. I feel pretty content lately, and for that reason don't have much to say. Goodnight all.

peace.

This has been a pretty boring week so far

Man, after this shopping trip tonight I better have a job by the next time I need to go.

I have been searching quite a bit, networking around, etc... I'm hoping I can at least get an interview in the next week. Getting to that step is the most difficult part. I'm pretty sure if I could just get the interview I could schmooze my way into whatever I need. Tomorrow I'm going to call that steak house I delivered an application to yesterday as well as print out two more resumes for a couple restaurants around. There's also another place that's hiring that someone I happened to meet at Fred Meyer told me about when I asked him where the applications were located.

To be honest I don't want to work retail. I'd much rather have a more interactive job like being a waitress because it's so fast paced. Retail is boring but I will do what I have to do.

Today was pretty lame to be honest. I wasn't able to focus very well, I had to go grocery shopping so I didn't get to study, and now I'm exhausted and will probably go to bed without exercising now. Meh, I just feel like I wasted a lot of time today. Kind of feeling sad, this whole week has been quite boring to be honest and I've got little motivation to do anything else tonight.

I don't know, it's like I haven't hung out with anyone this week and that's kind of depressing but on the bright side I've made some major progress on the guitar this week. I'm really starting to get more comfortable with chord progression and Jacob is nudging me in that direction too. Our lesson was good today, you guys know me Thursdays are one of my favorite days because of my lesson alone. I just love the guitar so much I don't know where I'd be right now without it...

peace.

Tea girl, you inspire me.

Evening everyone.

I got a toaster. It's red, $7 at Wal Mart. I bought a bunch of stuff today. Useful stuff that I look forward to using such as some moisturizer for combination skin, Neutrogena grapefruit wash, some boring bodywash that took FOREVER to pick out.

This is what I ended up picking. It smells okay, I'm kind of wishing I would have gone with something sweeter though. I really wanted the smell of pine. It sucks, they don't make pine smelling bodywash! I really love that smell, my mom has this handsoap in the kitchen that smells like it and I adore the smell it leaves on my hands so I decided while walking around in Wal Mart today... "HEY! I want to wear pine body wash. Wait, there is none."

I was probably meandering around those aisles for 40 minutes before I found all the random junk I realized I needed. Happy I did though. I also got a few school supplies, whatever. I've been picking up things at Rite Aid lately, remembering things I'd need. It's funny, Wal Mart is a lot better about product placement, they really remind you of all the things you'll need versus the little dinky, overpriced sections at Rite Aid. Usually I'll just shop their out of convenience. I'm sooo happy my sister is getting groceries, I'll be able to pack a lunch tomorrow morning.

10 More Shifts

I think I need to start packing a lunch from now on in general. The food that I buy at Rite Aid isn't good for me at all, typically. Sometimes I'll buy disgusting bags of spanish rice that you cook in the microwave. Everything is too high in sodium and long shelf life like that. God, I need to stop buying stuff, today was the last day I swear to God. Usually I'll also buy fruit or something but today I was in a rush because I'd bought shampoo and conditioner and wanted to get to the break room to text. Texting after dealing with all these people at Rite Aid is nice...

My job gets old but as I've said before I'm making the most of it. Sometimes at work I think about the "Tea Girl."

In North Korea one of the highest job titles is to be a tour guide to foreigners that come into the hermit country. The "Tea Girl" is a very pretty North Korean girl that works in a tea shop under the communist regime. The economy in Korea is dead, and goes there to work every day for one visitor every 10 months. You'd have to watch the documentary to understand this, I really encourage you to.

This is the "Tea Girl" from the documentary by Vice that has caused a lot of comment "thumb ups" on youtube. She's struck a lot of people as both enchanting and well... sad, we all feel extremely sad for her circumstances, and all these other poor, innocent people under the communist regime in North Korea.

I could go on about the regime all day. That's not my point.

Why she inspires me.

Because my job is extremely tedious. You're stuck all day doing and saying the same damn things under the corporate eye. Nobody is really in charge. This is sort of like North Korea. The Rite Aid (and Wal Mart, for that matter) corporate machine is parallel to the North Korean communist regime when you're working for them. You have to follow a certain protocol, act a certain way, wear a certain thing... it's all atrociously boring.

So when I'm at my boring job and feel my knees ache or my stomach growl, I think of the tea girl, stand a little straighter, put on my Noh mask, and deal with these people as professionally as I possibly can. Of course she doesn't even get the luxury of customers. It is complete pointless boredom.

S'okay. Not gonna have to do this again, 10 more shifts.

4 sunday shifts, 6 hours each.
3 saturday shifts, 6 hours each.
3 thursday shifts, 6 hours each.

I'm not going to add up those numbers because it'll distort the truth, I've only got three weeks left! Three weeks until I move! Yahoo, things are getting really interesting. I texted Kristin today about buying the toaster and she said she's got a futon and end table that she's bringing for the front room. I feel like I should provide a chair of some kind then. I'm going to need chairs for my business.

Deal with it later.

peace.

Losing your identity and starting a new?

I'm really not a fan of hipsters.

One reason that I choose not to accessorize too much is because I don't want to associated with these people.

Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.
The Hipster subculture is certainly more bearable than others such as the rave/candy kids that grew out of the now almost completely dead "Scene" phase. I've been friends with some hipsters, but most of them that I've met have been really lazy. Like they've got an attitude like they're too cool to work unless it's at some coffeeshop or bookstore for a few hours a week.

Yeah, not a hipster. Makes me happy I'm not going to Bellingham, these people would have pissed me off.

Blegh. When this becomes a known trend of my time, I can say here and now that I was never a part of it.

I don't really have a concrete look or subculture that I belong in, though I do seek the approval of other musicians. I think all musicians do, it's really important because there's no better judge of your playing than someone that's more skilled than you. It's also fun to of course be better than the next guy, so that approval is also a plus. Hipsters must get approval from other hipsters on how thrifty they look.

I've never followed any clothing trends necessarily or tried to be something I'm not for an extended amount of time. I feel like these kids that get really into different scenes end up losing a big piece of their identity once the scene ends or goes out of style. I personally would never want something that I identify with to "die," it would be horrifying, especially if you take it really seriously and felt accepted by the other people following the trend.

There are still stragglers to the scene trend, like this girl.

I think Scene pretty much ended when MySpace did back in 2008.

Gonna play guitar until me and tyler hang out.

peace.

It's annoying when my computer won't run at all when I'm either uploading or saving a video.
Yesterday I made it a goal to be more productive, which is when I ended up cleaning the entire house. I have really been trying to lay low, yet I keep on spending money.

Yesterday wasn't as boring as I'd anticipated though, when me and Katharine went to the mall to buy some Christmas presents. I didn't really have anyone planned, but ended up buying like three things for myself. I bought this really cute camisole, an eyeshadow and a lipgloss. The lipgloss and eyeshadow were practically free at Victoria's Secret, I just had to use that $10 off card and it was $3 total. The camisole was from Burlington coat factory, and it was $10. It's so cute!

Katharine and I walked around the mall a lot, and I must of said "Don't worry, we've got time.." like 5+ times because we would be rummaging through sections for a long time and Katharine seemed more and more stressed out by it. The main reason for this is, Katharine was looking for a really good homecoming outfit for Brian and she wanted something that was both classy and pretty. This would obviously be at Victoria's Secret, if everything wasn't over $45 there if you want something REALLY pretty. Camisoles to me are somewhat pointless because guys don't care that much, but if it is a special occasion, you don't want to wear a piece of trash either. Katharine quotes, "I don't want to look like a Hollywood stripper..." we found a LOT of hollywood stripper tease outfits in Spencers. Weren't digging those either, they're more trashy than sexy.

We went to Macys and JCpennies, both of which had big selection but everything was way too... idk, forty-year old woman trying to look sexy. Too much pasty colors. That and their prices are only like... $10 less than Victoria's Secret on average.

The last stop was Burlington coat factory, which is always a madhouse during this time of year but they actually pleasently surprised me with their huge selection of CHEAP camisoles. Katharine almost immediately found one that would be perfect for me and I fell in love with it, but finding one perfect for her was a little more difficult. Katharine is more classy than cutesy, so we had to find something that was sexy, classy, and a color that's really flattering. The classy aspect of it was really what Katharine seemed to be going for because we had to weed through a lot of cheap looking ones. She ended up finding a really pretty red one.

Anyway, Jake is coming over. We're gonna battle it up. haha

Emily

134 days now, my God! First round of Christmas shopping, and X Factor.

134 days. I have 134 days to get my life completely on track so that I can move out in the Spring. It's scary. Very scary to me that I really got to step it up if I want this to work out in my favor. This weekend I have two days off work, today and tomorrow and today I'd really just like to go out and shop and enjoy my time. I got paid and I have about $780 in my bank account right now and a half a tank of gas. This alone makes me happy.

I'm intending on beginning my Portland application today as well. With my GPA being as good as it is and having that big long essay that I wrote when I applied to Western, it should be a relatively easy process. Now I just gotta locate that document, shit. Would it be bad if I basically submitted the same one to two places? I doubt the colleges talk to eachother and compare essays-- or do they.. Anyway, I've almost given up on Western because I can't wait for them to send me the memo saying if I'm in or out in January. That, and my family really doesn't want me going there because it's expensive as fuck. I'm considering Portland now because there's no out of state tuition for Washingtonians. It seems like a cool city environment even if it's not huge and overpriced. We'll see, I'm gonna start looking into their business program today. Though I know Central has one of the best business programs, I still don't want to go there at all. Though if I don't get into Portland, it's going to be more of an option.

Today I found a lovely $10 off any $10 purchase at Macy's today. Wait does that mean free?! Ha ha, well I'm taking advantage of it. I'm gonna get my sister's and my dad's christmas gifts out of the way today. Unless of course I find something just perfect for someone else.

i'm adding a couple people to my list of people I have to shop for. So here's the final checklist:

1. Katharine
2. Katelynn
3. Mom
4. Dad
5. Avery
6. Hannah
7. Jessika
8. Shavonne

Of course some of the gifts are going to be smaller than others. I'll be able to afford it, definitely. I'm always so giving during this season because it makes me so happy to give to others and show them my appreciation for being there for me time and time again.

I'll document what I buy before I wrap it up at the end of the day. My dad thinks I'm smart for doing my shopping this way.

I'm watching X Factor's Top 10 elimination right now. I'm so surprised that Lakota Rain made it through. They're a somewhat disorganized country rock group thrown together by the show by taking four solo singers that weren't good enough to compete alone and sticking them together. I'm hoping Josh Krajik, Astro, Chris Rene or Melanie Amaro doesn't go home. They're all my favorites. I've only been loosely following the show though.

Rihanna is so gorgeous!

I'm gonna get going, gonna watch the rest of this show and get ready for my day. Had an early dentist appointment today and they told me that my teeth look great. Nice way to start my day.

peace

How many paychecks before Christmas?

Goodafternoon, it's 2:26 pm and I have work at 5'. I should probably use this time to be productive but instead I'm wasting time on the computer. I'm gonna get off here when I'm done with this entry and do these damn Japanese assignments, I swear.

Too much on my mind, too much wondering. I am trying to relax and just let time go by as it should...

I'm pretty convinced that this guy that I like doesn't have any interest in talking to me because I haven't really heard from him in three days. That to me is a sign that yeah, get over it. Again. I'm not too concerned, just a little disappointed... or something. It's weird, I don't really have any emotions. I felt happy when we hung out together the other night and everything seemed cool, but when I left felt like we'd probably never talk again. My intuition usually tells me this, and it's never been wrong. Maybe I'm psychic, haha. But yeah, no we'll never talk again unless he makes the initiative because i've promissed myself that I never make any attempt to talk to someone that I like unless they talk to me first. It's pretty shitty though, it's officially been a year since I've been in any sort of relationship, and everyone that I've *been* with in the last year has been a complete mistake and hasn't given a rats ass about me at all.

Japanese was good today, a little stressful though. I had a quiz that I showed up to school at about 8:00 am to study for. I ended up memorizing all of the vocab words even if I procrastinated until the last minute. I'm pretty sure I'll get 100% on it, even if I spelt a couple things wrong. I wrote the kanji for two of the words which should make up for it. Sensee makes it pretty easy to get 100% if you study hard enough. The new grammer though, again is really frustrating.

I've got work tonight from 5-10:15 and then TOMORROW I GET PAID! WOO! i'm happy about this paycheck becauuuuse I obviously need more money for gas, and I intend on splurging on the first christmas present. Since I'm buying for only a few people, I figure I'll buy one or two gifts with each paycheck and then by Christmas I'll have shopped for everyone. I'm gonna buy a pipe for Katelynn, which will probably cost around $40. You know what would be totally amazing? If I could get a pipe custom done with the Coheed and Cambria symbol. I know that'd be a stretch, but if I could get it, that'd be the best gift ever. I'm sure I'll be able to find a good pipe otherwise though. I want something that I know Katelynn will like, but sort of has an "Emily feel" (lol) to it too. Like if I got a psychadelic rainbow pipe or something.

I'm also planning on getting Samantha a drawing tablet that will probably cost around $50. This is something that Samantha really needs for her art. Because I'm moving here in the spring, I don't know how much i'm going to be able to see my friends that live here in the tri cities. That being said, I'm planning on getting my few close friends very nice gifts because they've helped keep me sane for so long and I don't know what I would of done without them.

As for Katharine, I still have no idea at all what I'm going to get her. Shopping for Katharine is always really hard because she spends a lot of time doing things that don't require much.. like, running and working out and working on projects that she's already got the software for. She isn't that huge into makeup, and I don't really know what kind of books she likes to read-- plus that'd be sort of a lame gift anyway, a book... unless it was some cool illustrated book. Idk, I'm holding off Katharine's for a month or so.

My mom is still thinking about what she wants, and my sister has everything. I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna get my sister an eyeshadow pallette from Macy's so she can stop jacking my shadow. Or maybe an eyeshadow from Mac? The wet or dry kind? I know that she'll like that. I could get her a blue one and a white one. Those shadows cost about $15 each. This is why I'm spreading out my shopping, so I don't get hit with everything at the same time.

Depending on how much I get paid and what my finances look like tomorrow, I'm probably going to get my sister's and Katelynn's gift out of the way for this next couple weeks. I also gotta think of one for Shavonne too. turns out Grandma doesn't want us to send her anything.

Well, I better get going and get some work done. Two hours before work.

peace.

~5~ Shoppingshoppingshopping. And packing.

My head is spinning. This really is my last day of preparations and I'm trying to get all this shit together. I should start with a to-do list so I don't forget anything:

To-Do List between now and Tomorrow @ 1 PM when I leave:
-Get SD card to use for video camera, as well as borrowing camera from Nicole and whoever else will let me use theirs temporarily. (This solves my camera problem. I'm also charging my video camera)
-This evening, once my dad gets home, call my mom about getting my phone turned back on. I should also check the mail and see if my mom has her travel voucher from WSU for her trip.

-Pack up everything except for my makeup, toothbrush, straightener, blowdryer and shampoo/conditioner because I'm going to need it tomorrow morning. Pack after I use it tomorrow so there are no issues. Seems like I always forget a hairbrush on my trips but not this year.

-Get done with math homework and biology stuff (probably before I go to bed tonight)

-Buy some food for myself and others for the hotel room.

-Get ahold of Patrick, Shawn, Nicole,... get the money thing squared away! This is going to be the hardest part of the day considering that I don't have my phone with me and the only way to get ahold of people is via Facebook.

I'm gonna go into town here soon and get what I need. Probably going to get it all at Wal mart, and I want to keep what I spend today under $50, if possible. It's really important that I get everything that I need. I already have a pair of shoes that I can wear (actually two, high heals AND flats, thank you Mom) so that's one thing I don't have to buy. I also gotta arrange getting money from everyone.

Shopping List:
  1. Tide-To-Go stick (Wal Mart, gonna pick this up when I get the money from Patrick)

    2. SD card (same.)

    3. 8 instant ramens-- enough for everyone to have one if they want one. Samantha is bringing some too but I'm gonna bring the Asian store kind. Gonna have to leave right after this blog entry to get them.

    4.
     Chips

    5. Fruit of some kind. Maybe nectarines or kiwis-- probably kiwis so my dad won't dig into it and eat half of them.

    6. Buy whatever other food looks good, maybe some candy or something. Stuff people will like, and will hold me over in the morning as well as on the drive over there.

yours,
Emily
