What a freakin night, the 6 hour assignment of doom.

Forecasting is.... incredibly challenging. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have Michael's help. He saved my ass yet again on the homework.

I'll back up. As you guys know I've been working on this assignment little by little since Monday as well as try to keep up on my finance. I got about 3/4 of the homework done last night and thought I'd have no problem finishing it today. Unfortunately my forecasting homework took me 6 hours, two of which were spent correcting my code for the first problem. Like every other time I try to do anything in R, I hit a wall and wonder what the hell I should do.

This morning I woke up early to meet with Wassell and get some help on the code but he wasn't in his office when I got there.

Colby met me upstairs in the library to work on the assignment around 7:30. He had made plans with Rylan and this other guy who's got a really good grasp of the material to work on the material as well but they were MIA. It was about the point that Colby got caught up to me that I realized we were in the exact same boat and needed help. I started calling people I knew from the class and nobody picked up, except Michael G. (and you can just imagine me thinking, THANK. GOD......) He told us that he and Jessie were actually working on the assignment in Shaw and we could meet them there. Yes! Salvation!

So here we all are in the Shaw computer lab around 8:20 and it closes at 10'. Michael pretty much instructed us step by step how to do it on an overhead and I followed along. This program is so painfully confusing to me, I'm trying to grasp how all of this syntax works the best that I can but there's so much more to it. I have a decent understanding of statistical models but choosing the right ones and making good inferences on them is an art. One that is not easily attained in 5 weeks or however long I've been in this quarter....

Wow it's getting really late.... The GOOD news is the assignment is now done (Michael and Colby actually came over after we got booted from the lab at 10 and worked for another 2 hours on it). Michael has a ton of people bugging him all the time about helping him with R so he's going to start having weekly R sessions to go through the homework.

Michael's got such an obnoxiously huge ego from all of this. I can see why, he's the center of a lot of positive attention for being so good at this and starting graduate school next year. That's fine, I'm proud of him. I'm just tired of hearing how great he is because I have to hear about it every day. He knows that he's smarter than everyone else, and that he's helping me survive this class, and thus pretty much has a free pass to say whatever he wants and be as condescending as humanly possible.

I've been listening to so much Pantera lately.

At least tomorrow's Friday. Another week I've survived. Next week is the test week for block 2, I've got my finance test on Monday that I'll be studying for a lot this weekend and Carbaugh's test on Wednesday which I will also be studying for ahead of time because I've got the next horrible forecasting assignment due Wednesday as well.

There's also one big assignment on the backburner which is my Econ 406 persuasive paper about why I believe Japan should continue to raise taxes and cut spending.

It will never be harder than this in my life. I just have to keep pushing forward. I have no choice, the time is going to go by anyway and I can't let fear keep me from doing what needs to be accomplished.

Spread a little lovin

Damn, it's been a great day... I can say its been a great week in fact.

Here's what's up.

Today I finally got the chance to meet up with my (amazing, funny, sexy, intelligent...) adviser which went really well. He and I talked a lot today, it was pretty sweet-- although of course (..unfortunately..) the conversation was  all about me and what my plans are this upcoming year. I used to hate these conversations and felt embarrassed because I didn't know the answer but now that I have a better idea of what I want in my career I have no problem being like, 'HEY, I know you know about jobs and things going on in the real world.... fill me in damn it.' Eh heh... not literally.

Tomorrow I have a management test and have to start writing this paper that's due on Tuesday. I am NOT procrastinating on this one, seriously that last paper was the biggest mistake I made all quarter. I'm still lucky I got a 38/50 on that thing but right now I think my class grade it sitting on a 2.9. If I can get a solid A on my second midterm tomorrow (*which I have been studying for ahead of time tonight, thank you very much.... even if it took me drawing until 12 am to f*cking do it) that should bump me up a little further. I'd like to get above a 3.0 to at least make it so this doesn't bring down my GPA. God, that'd be so lame, here management is supposed to be my major specialization. I'm going to continue to do all I can from this point forward to avoid that.

Today my Dad and I met at Shari's in Yakima to get dinner go shopping at value village. My Dad and I do this once and awhile, usually when he gets paid and wants to get out of the house. He kept trying to push the time forward that we were meeting because he wanted to stop and play at the casinos but I knew that I wasn't going to be able to accomplish anything until this was out of the way. He understood and said he'd have a better time if he stopped on the way back so we met for more of a late lunch.

I got a really good chipotle, avocado, grilled chicken sandwich and fries. It was "free pie Wednesday" so I scored a couple slices of that for the fridge too.

I wish I could get baked and eat pie with the young David Cassidy.
Only in my dreams!

Terry came over to study for the Money and banking test and when I was unable to answer many of the questions from his notes he's like "Wow what'd you do, party all weekend? You never get this many wrong." The irony of the fact that I actually did study this weekend.... But did spend a lot of the time dwelling on the fact that I was sad that I wasn't doing anything fun because I was flaked on.

The past few days I've started to think about my lifestyle and who I portray myself as to the world. I want to make myself this person that I want to be. I want like to have friends, stay active and have fun on the weekends like a normal person. I want confidence in my ability and a clear thought process. I feel like I haven't had any of these things since I've moved here again and that stops tomorrow.

Wow, best veterans day in awhile...

So low and behold, Jared is actually pretty interesting to talk to in person. I wasn't sure how our conversations would be when we were sober but I was pleasantly surprised. He came over this evening and we took a walk for a little while.

He texted me at about 11 this morning and we chatted for a few hours, which almost the entire time I felt like I was pushing the conversation forward by asking a bunch of questions according to his vague answers. At around 3, I said "what are you doing for dinner?" which he didn't reply to so I'm like "Or not. I'm just wondering, you never really ask what I'm doing so I don't know what to say.." which he responded that he's not a big texter. I'm like, what! You texted me first, you know? And the previous night when I'd said I was going to bed he's like "Why?" So I guess I figured he liked texting so I felt a little obligated to do so.

So here I am pushing this conversation for the sake of not knowing if he's planning on making plans or not. Because honestly you guys, when MOST men text is because they're trying to make plans, you know? Like the last few guys I've... I guess "dated," haven't really been chatty via text. It's just hard to tell if a guy wants to text or not, and the last thing you want to do is OVER text and make it seem like you're some "needy" girl. He needs to be aware that I have a lot going on.

He'd come over tonight and he saw my workspace and said "This is what you've been doing all day. Nothing." I'm like WHAT, NO! I've played guitar for FORTY minutes! Ha ha, to me that's absolute raw productivity. I also did a legal assignment so that was good. I'll probably practice my guitar, watch king of the hill and look at my accounting material simultaneously tonight.

I'm of course feeling sort of happy about this situation. I don't know what's going to come of it, he hasn't indicated to me at all that he doesn't enjoy my company so I'm hoping we'll spend more time together. That's all I'll say about it. I just can't push it.

He's a really sweet person, from what I've seen anyway. That's a plus. I'm hoping once I can open up more to him he'll be able to get my sense of humor. It takes awhile to warm up to that I guess. I think that's the best indicator that interest in a person will last is if they at least sort of get your sense of humor. Mine can be a little dark. I'm a little strange.

I showed him some of my old pictures. He knows about cosplay. He told me he likes going through people's photos, that's something we have in common. He also told me he doesn't like when food is left out which is just like me!  We stopped at Bradley's house to pick up my waterbottle and they were partying extremely hard last night I guess.

I think maybe I will post that picture to my facebook, we had a fun night. What the hell.
